The SeaGals are an incredibly tenacious team of 13 and 14 year old East London girls who on the 19 July 2018 became the youngest female team to swim the English Channel from Dover to Cap Gris-Nez, France. They trained for two years with cold swims, night swims and reservoir swims before completing this ultimate swimming challenge.
The six girls set out to sea in the early hours with the first swimmer Lucy setting off from shore at 5am. They finished, triumphant, 13.23 hours later.
Their swim was documented by Teri Pengilley and published as a photo essay in The Guardian.
Alongside training they spent time raising money in support of Child Poverty Action Group.
In Crolla’s logo, the waves keep the SeaGals buoyant and pushing onward. In an appreciative nod to their inspirational coach Tim, the TM symbol becomes his name.
