Inspired by ‘variety’ the identity for Variety Children’s Hospital uses vibrant coloured shapes fitting together and supporting each other. An extension of, and addition to, these colours and shapes create brightly coloured ‘stepping stones’ used for flooring and defining ward entrances, the reception and transition spaces.

Patients and their families help direct people at key signage points and feature along the corridors making the spaces familiar and welcoming.

Decorating the walls are portraits of patients with their favourite good luck charms, brought for back up and support whenever visiting the hospital. A mural painted on site by illustrator Richard Hogg brings incredible animals to life.
