With its classic proportions – a main, vaulted entrance space with five rooms surrounding it on three sides – the British Pavilion in Venice’s Giardini feels like a traditional gallery.
This guided the design intention, treating the adjoining rooms as gallery spaces, but using the entrance space as a Research Emporium – a space to browse, explore and return to.
A colour was used to define each group of architectural explorers within the emporium, exhibition space and ‘Venice Takeaway’ catalogue.
