Crolla designed a new identity and graphic tone of voice to help East London’s Roman Road revive its livelihood of old. A business-focused logo aimed at a wider audience of sellers and users was developed, and a stamp version, based on makers’ marks, was designed, which distilled the essence of the main logo. The latter was used for window stickers, bags and more event-focused marketing.
Crolla chose a typeface reminiscent of a wood block font, to give the main ‘RoRd’ element a bold yet traditional typographic feel and used the ribbon element in the style of a garment label – Roman Road being well known for its clothing markets. Crolla created a style guide for the website to include information about events, getting stalls for sellers and a complete visitor’s guide.
